...figuring out a plausible way for a dwarf to wear sandals and something like shorts.

The July event is gonna be hot, if I can attend, I really don't wanna have to wear long pants.

any ideas?

Not all dwarves have to look like the ones from lord of the rings.  you can have one with a kilt or roman style clothing.  Tho I'ld say a kilt or battle skirt (plates metal or lether that hang from waist) are your best bet.  Sandles are understandable, if you can stand greaves or atleast painted shin guards might help.  Your dwarf could be raised in a different culture then your typical dwarf as well.  It's all up to you... I'm thinking about a kilt or short legged pants. After talking with the guys today.

I'll probably bring long pants too you know for some variation to the costume.

I'll figure something out. I've got some stores I can go to and look for stuff.
