This is Dennis White, I played the big white shaman barbarian Lief Wraithfire (waves).
This is the story as it unfolded for me.
James Stokes (Mel the Barbarian = charmed victim) was fighting alongside some guys in yellow nad blue tabbards I still dont know who they were to this day. When the mob went down james was casted on by one of there squad, he looked up after looting the mob and taken back a bit asked the kid in game why he casted on him. In response the kid replied you dont know what I casted, james then came over to my character in game and said these guys just cast on me WTF, I asked james what they casted in game, and one of the loud brothers (the cell caster) came over and told our group that they tried to charm him (ig he would know the incant he is capable of knowing the spell cast). We determined ig the reason they had tried to charm james's character and was for the coin that was on the mob. Our characters reacted as any barbarian would in a town of no "formal" society and demanded blood for the insult to our people and then the one noble npc tried to get involved we roleplayed everything after that moment (which I understand is the issue in question how he came to know what was cast on him, which was witnessed by another caster capable person. another issue came up where the kid in camo hunting overalls tried to touchcast james and then immediately advised james he doesnt know what he cast on him (which we immediately told the kid that if you touch cast on someone they dont have to know what the spell was, to deny it. Permission and.or acceptance is needed to touchcast on someone.
(fast forward a bit)
The next issue comes up where the fight breaks out in the tavern, things unfolded iin the fight as everyone saw no issues there. I myself pickup the kid in camo overalls and asked him to empty his own pouch I make it a effort to not search anyone else's things if there is not a marshall present to be a neutral party, I asked him if he had a earth book and he handed me the tag I shattered it with witnesses, I also adv him due to the belt full of potions he had I was destroying physically pouring out all the potions he had and any other items he had at the time. all u/s although I still wonder if those tags were ever ripped up, I remember going to bed and still seeing the potion physreps with tags still in them on the kid.
Matt (owner) adv me that he had taken care of the issue, and matt is the man so I left it alone. When I came back in asking if there were any alchemy books found on the other kid that ad the alchemy globes to destroy his book (yea i know a little much) that's when I got word of that other kid with the 2 weapons sword was missing. I heard it was also lco/spirit linked. I then immediately started looking around for it, I even took off all my gear pouches to let matt inspect them, because to be honet if that had happened to me (tag being stolen for a spirit linked item) I would have flipped out. in and oog.
So in essence this is ow the night unfolded for this encounter for me. I heard the one kid that was taking off his gear(had the sword) was accusing james of metagaming, I assure you no one metagamed this issue with the charm spell. It all played out this way ig. I also took the time to explain this to the same kid (i dont mean to offend you guys are obviously younger than me i'm a old man lol).
I hope this sheds some light on the subject.
